In recent days, ravines in the municipalities of Cañada Morelos and Nopalucan have been found to have been used by organized crime to dump at least a dozen bodies.
The State Secretary of Public Security, Francisco Sánchez González, said that in the case of the municipality of Cañada de Morelos, on Sunday, November 30, they received a report that the body of a murdered man had been found, but upon inspecting the area, they discovered garbage bags containing more human remains.
“We cannot quantify or give a number of bodies; it appears that these remains had been there for a long time. Most likely, since it is a ravine, they used this place to dump remains,” the secretary said.
According to press reports from the region, at least a dozen bags containing human remains were found in a ravine, leading to speculation that they correspond to between six and eight people.
Furthermore, on December 3, in a ravine located in the municipality of Nopalucan, on the border with the town of San Pablo Zitlaltepec, Tlaxcala, at least six dismembered bodies were found, showing signs of violence.
Police reports indicate that a passerby alerted authorities that what appeared to be a leg was visible in the ravine. Upon descending to the site, law enforcement found human remains presumed to belong to six individuals.
Among those executed, according to local press reports, were brothers José Luis and César “N”, as well as Antonio “N”, who were abducted on November 27 in the town of San José Carpinteros, municipality of Tepeaca.
These executions are believed to be related to a dispute between groups vying for control of LP gas theft, cargo transport, and drug dealing in both Puebla and Tlaxcala.
