Clandestine events are on the rise in Querétaro

The Querétaro Municipal Government announced increased inspections due to the rise in events and concerts during the end of the year, including those organized clandestinely through social media. Authorities indicated that this phenomenon has become more frequent in December, a period of high demand for activities in public squares and private spaces.

Federico de los Cobos, Secretary of Government for the capital, explained that December sees the highest number of requests to hold shows, which necessitates intensified oversight. He noted that more than 84 establishments in the nightlife sector have been closed so far this year for operating without a license, violating operating hours, or holding unauthorized events.

The official pointed out that shows require different approval than businesses such as restaurants and bars, due to variations in capacity and safety measures. He added that social media monitoring remains active to identify irregular events and prevent unauthorized gatherings that could endanger the public.
