At least five people were killed in an armed attack on the evening of December 6 in the 20 de Noviembre neighborhood of Valle de Santiago, Guanajuato. According to initial reports, a group of heavily armed men stormed a home where a family gathering was taking place.
Witnesses reported that at least four assailants forced their way inside and began shooting at the attendees without saying a word, causing chaos and terror among those present. After the attack, the perpetrators quickly fled the scene without being identified.
Emergency services arrived within minutes and confirmed the deaths of four men and one woman, all members of the same family. Paramedics also treated six wounded individuals—four women and two men—who were transported to different hospitals for specialized care.
Sources close to the investigation indicated that the attack may be related to alleged disputes over drug sales in the area. The house where the massacre occurred was known to neighbors as “the Miller’s House,” long suspected of having ties to drug trafficking.
The Guanajuato State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has opened an investigation and is already working to collect evidence, conduct interviews, and review surveillance footage to try to locate the attackers and determine the motive for the attack. Local authorities have increased security in the neighborhood due to fears of further violence.
So far, no arrests have been reported in connection with the massacre, while the community remains shocked by the level of violence with which this attack was carried out, once again placing Guanajuato among the states most affected by organized crime.
