Personnel from the Neighborhood Security Secretariat arrested two individuals identified as the alleged perpetrators of a robbery.
The intervention by officers from the Community Policing Directorate occurred yesterday at 2:39 a.m., following a report from the C5i (Command, Control, Communications, Computing, and Intelligence Center) regarding the robbery of a tourist couple.
The officers went to a hostel located on Tinoco y Palacios Street, where they contacted the victims, a foreign couple.
The victims stated that, while walking a few blocks from the hotel, two men intercepted them and snatched their handbag, which contained an iPhone, personal documents, and cash.
Using GPS, they were able to locate the phone in the area of the Abasto Market, so the officers approached them and went to the intersection of Avenida Central and Periférico.
There, they observed two men, whom they identified as the same individuals who had stolen the handbag, one of whom was carrying it in his right hand.
Following the report, the two individuals, identified as Alejandro T. T. and Diego E. H. R., were arrested.
Along with the stolen bag, the victims’ belongings were recovered. The victims requested that the alleged perpetrators be turned over to the State Attorney General’s Office.
