The State Registry of Missing Persons reports that the state has surpassed the 16,000 mark for missing persons.

Following the update on December 10, the registry counts 16,041 cases, maintaining Jalisco’s position as the state with the highest number of disappearances in the nation, with more than 1,000 cases surpassing the State of Mexico.

This update coincides with a statement from the Jalisco Searchers Warriors collective, which requested support from Governor Pablo Lemus and state agencies in the form of machinery and personnel to exhume clandestine graves.

The group demanded that the disappearance crisis not be ignored and that the suffering of thousands of families not be disregarded.

The victims and their families demanded that security, life, and human dignity be prioritized over international events, such as the upcoming World Cup.
