The Security Council is analyzing the possibility of jointly operating checkpoints or security filters on certain sections of highways, involving several law enforcement agencies.

This was announced by the Secretary General of the Government, Santiago de la Peña Grajeda, in response to a complaint filed by the mayor of Delicias, Jesús Valenciano, and some residents of the state, who allege that members of the National Guard are extorting drivers on federal highways.

“We have requested a review of the issue, we have discussed it with various levels of authority, and the matter has already been raised with the Attorney General’s Office (FGR). There is a great deal of concern surrounding these checkpoints,” he emphasized.

The state official commented that, in light of these complaints, they are exploring the possibility of implementing joint checkpoints or inspection filters, always prioritizing the safety of citizens.

“I think we all understand and appreciate the presence and security on the highways, but we must also protect our fellow citizens and the citizens who travel on our roads,” he asserted.

De la Peña Grajeda mentioned that the proposal to the authorities in charge of those checkpoints was made with all seriousness and will be given due follow-up.
