The Nayarit State Security Secretariat closed the Tepic-Mazatlán highway in the direction of Sinaloa, following reports of gunfire and roadblocks at various points in the region.
The main closure is located at kilometer 182 in Sinaloa, where a cargo truck was set on fire.
In Nayarit, damage was also reported near kilometer 120 of the Mazatlán Bypass.
The incidents occurred in the Escuinapa area, near Acaponeta.
The number of casualties has not yet been reported.
