With an investment of 20.171 billion pesos, the railway company Alstom, headquartered in Ciudad Sahagún, Hidalgo, won the bid to manufacture 47 trains that will operate on the Mexico City–Querétaro, Querétaro–Irapuato, and Saltillo–Nuevo Laredo routes. Alstom will also be responsible for service, maintenance, and workshop equipment.

Alstom’s proposal was the most economical, surpassing the offers submitted by the Spanish company CAF and the Chinese company CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive.
