The Ninth Council District of Playa del Carmen will close out the year with at least three initiatives impacting the areas of commerce and gender inclusion, benefiting minority groups.
Marian Solís Arriaga, head of the aforementioned council district, emphasized that these issues were priorities on the agenda proposed at the beginning of the year, given the regulatory authority available to the district.
Regarding commerce, the initiatives presented included the creation of the Municipal Advisory Council for Economic Development and the creation of the “Safe MSME, Protecting Your Business” program for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
“The first initiative aims to integrate advisory and opinion bodies to listen to the concerns that society has regarding economic development. The second focuses on enhancing the video surveillance systems that businesses already have, offering the possibility of a voluntary connection to the C4 center,” he explained.
In addition, the Internal Regulations of the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security were reformed to create the Coordination for Attention to Sexual and Gender Diversity, which aims to provide support to members of the LGBTTTIQA+ community in cases of violence.
This council, like the others that make up the Playa del Carmen city council, has begun reviewing the municipal activities they will promote throughout 2025.
For next year, he added, they will seek to strengthen their commitment to initiatives that protect businesses and the LGBTTTIQA+ community.
“At the request of various groups, an initiative was presented, which is currently being worked on, to modify various legal provisions of the Internal Regulations of the Municipal Council for Prevention and Response to HIV-AIDS, which focuses on the integration of the Sexual Fun Commission into said Council.”
