According to information from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System, statistics from January to November 2025 show that 22,857 common crimes were registered in Baja California Sur; these include more than 200 homicides, six femicides, more than 9,000 robberies, and around 3,000 cases of domestic violence.

In recent statements to the media, the governor of Baja California Sur, Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío, indicated that the state government has observed a decrease in high-impact crimes in Los Cabos and La Paz.

The Los Cabos Coordinating Council, represented by its executive president, Julio Castillo Gómez, believes it is necessary for authorities at different levels of government to strengthen their security strategies to address the perception of insecurity, which has increased this year.

Castillo stated that, at the moment, the municipality of Los Cabos is not experiencing fatal situations, unlike other states in the country, although he acknowledged that there are areas for improvement in low-income neighborhoods.

“For us as a sector, one of the issues we see as needing attention is the perception of insecurity, which has increased in the last year as a result of acts that generate significant uncertainty. I believe the authorities need to undergo a review process of their command and operational personnel on the streets and conduct a trust assessment of their officers, who are the ones with direct contact with the public,” he said.

The representative stated that, as the private sector, they seek to actively participate in all these efforts; for example, in 2026, they will be able to finalize the surveillance system program that has been promoted for years for the El Médano area.

He explained, “Of course, we must continue investing in technology. The El Médano project that we started years ago is coming, and there is also a robust surveillance program for the downtown area of San José del Cabo, which will be implemented in the historic center and tourist zones.”

He concluded that they will also be promoting the restructuring and technological strengthening of the municipality’s C2 command and control center. They called on the authorities not to neglect the issue of prosecuting crime.
