Workers from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec Railway (FIT) continue to dismantle the train car that derailed and fell into the ravine last Sunday, December 28, near the town of Nizanda, which belongs to the municipality of Asunción Ixtaltepec.

Using specialized cutting tools, the workers began their work yesterday, cutting sections of the car to extract it from the ravine and assemble the steel pieces onto the platform of a support train that transported the parts to Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz.

The rescue efforts continue at the derailment site, where the FIT deployed cranes on platforms equipped to travel along the train tracks, after experts from the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) completed their work. Read also: More than 7,000 train accidents in five years
