The state governor, Alejandro Armenta, and the mayor, Pepe Chedraui, led a historic event in the city’s main square. With a monumental Rosca de Reyes (Three Kings’ Bread) made of 19,010 pieces of bread, equivalent to about 6 kilometers in length, Puebla City broke the Guinness World Record for the largest Rosca de Reyes in the world.

In this regard, Governor Alejandro Armenta, accompanied by the president of the State System for Integral Family Development (SEDIF), Cecilia Arellano, emphasized that this event represents a great opportunity to share a message of good wishes at the start of the year, hoping for a period of well-being for Mexico and Puebla, marked by health, family unity, hope, and constant work.

He also acknowledged the efforts of the Gran Bodega supermarket chain, the City Government, and the bakers who made the traditional Rosca possible, as an example of collaboration and community identity.

In his remarks, Mayor Pepe Chedraui, accompanied by the president of the Municipal System for Integral Family Development (SMDIF), MariElise Budib, recognized the bakers for their outstanding work in making this project a success. He also thanked Governor Alejandro Armenta and his wife, Cecilia Arellano, for their presence, which was essential to the creation of the monumental Rosca de Reyes (Three Kings’ Bread).

Andrés Rojas Toledo, Director of Operations for Grupo Gran Bodega, acknowledged that this event brought together the effort, identity, and tradition of the state of Puebla. He affirmed that the Rosca de Reyes is a symbol of unity for everyone who gathered in the city’s main square.

To achieve this Guinness World Record, dozens of local bakers from Puebla and the company Gran Bodega provided the ingredients for the monumental Rosca de Reyes (Three Kings’ Bread). The bread was handcrafted and enjoyed by more than 10,000 people from Puebla and other visitors who gathered in downtown Puebla.

A total of 19,010 loaves of bread, each 30 centimeters long, were made. Preparation began in the early hours of the morning, with a goal of two kilometers per day, always adhering to the standards required by Guinness World Records, which supervised and validated the entire process.

Later, starting Sunday morning, the loaves were transported in specialized bread trucks to downtown Puebla. Assembly began at 10:00 a.m. on tables set up to ensure perfect alignment, allowing the Guinness World Record to be achieved.

The final presentation of the Rosca de Reyes (Three Kings’ Bread) took place along a route that began at the intersection of Reforma Avenue and 11th North-South Street, continuing along Reforma/Juan de Palafox y Mendoza Avenue to Heroes of 5 de Mayo Boulevard, and then along the boulevard to 29th East Street.

At 3:00 p.m., the Guinness World Records evaluator inspected each section of the Rosca de Reyes, verifying compliance, which awarded Puebla City the record for “the longest line of bread in the world.”

In this way, the City Government strengthens family unity by preserving the traditions that unite us as a society and, thus, concludes the “Experience Winter in Puebla City” festivities.
