Body of man found in port of Celestún, Yucatán; cause of death under investigation

Authorities in Yucatán reported the discovery of a body in the estuary of this port city in western Yucatán on Saturday morning, at a rest stop in the area.

The incident occurred in a busy area of ​​the estuary, where security personnel spotted the body in the water.

The rest stop’s security guard saw the body floating near the shore of the Celestún estuary and notified emergency services.

Prehospital care personnel arrived at the scene after receiving the report and recovered the body from the water.

Paramedics confirmed the absence of vital signs upon examining the man at the location where he was found.

Authorities identified the deceased as 30-year-old Lucio Alberto Nah Kuk, based on information provided during the initial investigation.

According to the security guard’s testimony, the man arrived at the rest stop that morning on a motorcycle.

The witness stated that the man parked his vehicle and sat down on the bank of the estuary to drink alcohol.

Hours later, the security guard spotted the body floating in the water and filed the corresponding report.

Security personnel cordoned off the area to preserve the scene and allow for the investigation.

The State Attorney General’s Office arrived at the Celestún estuary to begin legal proceedings and collect evidence.

Authorities transported the body for forensic examination and to continue the investigation to determine the cause of death.
