The Federal Attorney General’s Office for Environmental Protection (Profepa) conducted training workshops for tour operators on best practices for whale watching in the municipalities of Los Cabos and Loreto, Baja California Sur.

The workshops took place in Loreto Bay National Park and lasted three months. Key topics covered included minimum distances, permitted viewing times, speed limits, prohibited behaviors, technical recommendations, as well as infractions and procedures for filing citizen complaints.

The agency stated that the objective is to strengthen responsible tourism, prevent disturbances to cetaceans, reduce the risk of collisions, and promote regulatory compliance in these highly sensitive marine areas.

Specialists from the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (Conanp) and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) participated in the workshops.
