Residents in Acapulco complain they have been without water for two months

Approximately 60 residents of the Panorámica, Margarita de Gortari, and Infonavit Alta Progreso housing complex neighborhoods blocked Ruiz Cortines Avenue for 40 minutes today to demand water.

At 12:30 p.m., the protesters closed both lanes of the road outside the Vicente Guerrero Regional Hospital to demonstrate against the lack of service for the past two months.

The demonstrators stated that the Acapulco Municipal Water and Sewerage Commission (CAPAMA) is not adhering to the scheduled water rationing.

They complained that their bills arrive every month, but they don’t have water service and are also spending money to compensate for the shortage.

The residents were met by municipal officials, who promised to restore service by next Friday.
