The Aguascalientes Municipal Institute for Culture (IMAC) invites you to experience an evening of pride, remembrance, and tradition with the concert commemorating the 139th anniversary of the Aguascalientes Municipal Symphonic Band (1887-2026), one of the city’s most representative and beloved musical groups.
The celebration will take place on Friday, January 30, at 7:00 p.m. at the Morelos Theater, with free admission. Families, students, and the general public are invited to enjoy a program specially prepared to commemorate the band’s history.
“Celebrating the 139th anniversary of the Municipal Symphonic Band is to recognize a living history that has accompanied Aguascalientes through its most important moments. It is a group that represents identity, discipline, and cultural pride, and that continues to cultivate audiences and leave its mark on new generations,” emphasized Iván Sánchez Nájera, director of IMAC.
The concert program offers a musical journey through the most significant moments in the history of the Municipal Symphonic Band, evoking its origins, its participation in the civic and social life of the city, and its presence in traditions, celebrations, and special projects. Through various pieces and stagecraft, the audience will be able to connect emotionally with the evolution of a group that has accompanied Aguascalientes for generations.
For 139 years, the Municipal Symphonic Band has been a fundamental pillar of Aguascalientes’ cultural life, preserving musical tradition and adapting to changing times without losing its identity or its commitment to public service.
With this commemorative concert, the Municipality continues its efforts to bring concert music closer to the public, strengthening the bond between tradition, local talent, and the cultural spaces that give life to Aguascalientes.
