What appeared to be a “routine” robbery on the region’s dangerous highways ended in a bloody scene after a victim decided not to stand idly by and confronted his attackers.
The incident occurred in the community of Estación Chontalpa. According to reports, four men on motorcycles intercepted a motorist with the intention of robbing him and, allegedly, kidnapping him.
Cornered and fearing the worst due to the lack of police presence, the driver pulled out a firearm and opened fire on the group of criminals. The result was deadly:
- 💀 Two alleged robbers died instantly, lying on the pavement next to their motorcycle.
- 🏥 Two others were seriously wounded and were taken under police custody to a hospital, where they are fighting for their lives.
Unofficially, it was reported that the deceased were from the municipality of Cárdenas and had extensive criminal records in the area.
Agents from the State Attorney General’s Office cordoned off the area to begin their investigation. Meanwhile, on social media, support for the driver has been swift, with many asserting that he acted in self-defense against the wave of violence plaguing the highways of Huimanguillo.
