The program is based on collecting native seeds from various regions of the state. These seeds are wrapped in nutrient-rich clay, dehydrated, and preserved to be dispersed during the rainy season in selected areas.
Enrique Rojo García, Undersecretary of Sustainability and Climate Change, highlighted that this project has successfully engaged:
Schools and associations.
Social rehabilitation centers and churches.
Scout groups, unions, and families.
Technical Innovation and Reach
To cover hard-to-reach areas, the Government of Hidalgo has implemented technological tools and strategic agreements:
Agricultural Drones: In collaboration with CONALEP (National College of Professional Technical Education), a drone from SEMARNATH (Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Hidalgo) was adapted for seed dispersal.
Aerial Support: Using a state government utility helicopter, more than 3,000 hectares have been covered with nearly 15 million seeds.
New Phase: The official announced that this year the reach will be expanded through the use of a small airplane, thanks to an agreement with the Simiplaneta Foundation.
Comprehensive Environmental Policy
Rojo García emphasized that these actions are part of the framework designed by Governor Julio Menchaca Salazar and Secretary Mónica Mixtega, aimed at guaranteeing the right to a healthy environment through climate change mitigation and the protection of natural resources.
Authorities invited the public to follow the secretariat’s social media accounts to learn about specific projects aimed at each region and to actively participate in building joint environmental strategies.
