The Tampico Economic Development Department is promoting the participation of local entrepreneurs in the national truck racing competition being held at Expo Tampico, as part of a strategy to position the “Made in Tampico” brand, reported the department head, Nora Izaguirre Acevedo.
The official explained that, within the framework of this event, a booth has been set up featuring eight entrepreneurs offering handicrafts, food, and freshly made products, with the goal of strengthening the visibility of local producers and small businesses in the city.
Izaguirre Acevedo emphasized that the “Made in Tampico” brand, already registered with the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI), seeks to accredit and support both micro-entrepreneurs and service companies, facilitating their market positioning.
She specified that the booth will remain open to the public until 9:00 p.m., with free admission, allowing attendees to experience both the sporting competition and the local products on offer.
On another topic, the director announced that the Growth Suite 2026 call for applications is currently open. This program is aimed at micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) interested in becoming suppliers for the Walmart retail chain, either in physical stores or through its digital platform.
She explained that the application process serves as a pre-selection stage, evaluating the level of commercial development of the products and services, as well as compliance with the company’s established guidelines.
Those interested can find the application information on the Economic Development Department’s social media pages or visit their offices directly, located on 20 de Noviembre Street in downtown Tampico, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Registration will be open until February 9th.
