Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reiterated that the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) is responsible for providing information regarding the investigation against Carlos Torres Torres, and expressed her support for Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda.
The mayor made this statement on Friday, January 30, during her morning press conference in Tijuana, Baja California, where she was questioned by reporters about the allegations against Ávila Olmeda’s ex-husband, who recently released a video claiming his innocence.
“It’s part of the Attorney General’s Office investigation, and the Attorney General’s Office has to provide the information. They are conducting the investigation, and they are the ones who have to report on it,” she said.
She was reminded that the federal government had previously provided information regarding former senator and former governor of Baja California, Ernesto Ruffo Appel, in matters related to fuel theft, but Sheinbaum Pardo maintained her position.
“It’s a matter for the Attorney General’s Office. I’ve said several times that the issue of fuel theft is being handled by the Attorney General’s Office, and they have to report who is under investigation. When they have the results of their investigations, they will release all the information, but at this time it’s a matter for the Attorney General’s Office,” she stated.
The president gave the same response when asked about the fact that information about the case was being “aired.”
Earlier, the president had expressed her support for the governor.
“Governor Marina del Pilar has our support, and we need to see the results of her administration in many areas, particularly in security, where we have excellent coordination, and in other achievements she has made in the state,” she stated, adding that “she will finish her term very well.”
“Today, Baja California is better, and it will be even better this year,” Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo affirmed.
