It is estimated that more than 20 thousand units will stop circulating, which threatens to paralyze the mobility of the capital and the metropolitan area.

After the deadline for the vehicle review, transporters and taxi drivers in Puebla announced a mega work stoppage for next Tuesday, February 3.

It is estimated that more than 20 thousand units will stop circulating, which threatens to paralyze the mobility of the capital and the metropolitan area.

Despite the magnitude of the announcement, the statement released on social networks does not specify which routes will join the strike. Which, therefore, will affect thousands of Pueblans in their transfers.

The mobilization arises as a direct response to the position of the Secretary of Mobility and Transportation, Silvia Tanús Osorio. The head of the agency confirmed that, as of February, all units that do not have the approval of the vehicle review will be withdrawn.

It should be remembered that last Friday, January 30, the vehicle review process formally concluded. So the concessionaires who did not carry out the procedure will face fines of up to 25 thousand pesos.

In 2025, the state administration reactivated this inspection process that had been suspended for 12 years. Where the objective is to guarantee that public transport ceases to be a risk for citizens.

However, for the concessionaires, transporters and taxi drivers who will carry out the mega strike of units in Puebla on February 3. The measure represents a collection persecution that ignores the economic reality of those who operate the service.

According to Tanús Osorio, out of a registry of 35 thousand units, only 16 thousand 548 managed to pass the vehicle review. This leaves almost 50 percent of transporters and taxi drivers at risk of being sent to the corralón.

Mega strike of units in Puebla is ready for February 3; UTEP members confirm protest

Faced with this scenario, the representative of the Union of Transporters of the State of Puebla (UTEP), Samuel Méndez, confirmed the mega-strike of units in the state on February 3.

The protest is not only a rejection of the inspections, but also a denunciation of the alleged demands for regularization. Which they describe as unsustainable under the current scheme.

UTEP concessionaires and drivers argue that they have not raised for ten years, so they maintain the lowest cost in Mexico.

In the same way, the drivers point out that the lack of income prevents them from investing in the maintenance necessary to approve the new safety guidelines.
