Antonio Escobar Torres, a businessman from the southern part of the state of Veracruz, who had been kidnapped by a group of armed men, managed to escape his captors. However, he died in a hospital where he was taken after being found.
Municipal police officers located Escobar Torres wandering the streets of the municipality of Jáltipan de Morelos. He had several stab wounds and was dehydrated.
The victim was quickly taken to a hospital in the municipality of Coatzacoalcos, but the medical and nursing staff could do little to save his life, and he died shortly after being admitted.
Antonio Escobar Torres was kidnapped on January 26, 2026, along with his business partner, Luis Colmenares Alejandro, in the Los Mangos subdivision of Cosoleacaque.
Both men, Antonio, 30, and Luis, 39, worked in event and banquet planning, as well as renting venues and equipment for such activities in the southern part of Veracruz state.
To date, neither the government of Rocío Nahle García nor the Veracruz State Attorney General’s Office has issued any official statement regarding the case or the possible whereabouts of Alejandro Colmenares.
Since his disappearance, dozens of people have shared the missing person posters issued by the Veracruz State Commission for the Search of Missing Persons on social media, requesting assistance in locating him.
Unofficially, it is known that Antonio Escobar Torres’s family has been notified of the discovery of their loved one and that the investigation remains open to find those responsible.
