Tense moments unfolded in the wooded area of Valle de Bravo after four minors were reported missing while hiking.
After several hours of searching, rescue teams located the children, who were found alive and in stable condition, although showing signs of fatigue and disorientation.
The rescue took place near Monte Alto hill, located in the municipality of Valle de Bravo, in the State of Mexico. According to authorities, four minors, ages 10, 12, 13, and 15, were rescued. They had become lost in the woods, as they were unfamiliar with the area and unable to find their way out.
Relatives of the children reported that the youths entered the natural area without a thorough understanding of the terrain, which caused them to lose their bearings and be unable to find their way back on their own. These events caused concern among their families, who reported them to the national emergency number 911.
Following this report, authorities immediately activated search protocols. The Command, Control, Communications, Computing, and Quality Center (C5) received the report and alerted the State of Mexico Security Secretariat.
During this operation, the State Police provided immediate support, conducting searches with all-terrain vehicles and foot patrols in various areas of Cerro Monte Alto.
After several hours of searching and coordinated efforts with authorities, the four teenagers were located. They were disoriented and exhausted. Support personnel performed a preventative medical evaluation, which ruled out any serious injuries.
The minors were then taken to a safe location and reunited with their families.
