Within the framework of the 2026 Progress Agenda spearheaded by Governor David Monreal Ávila, the Board for the Protection and Conservation of Monuments and Historic Sites of the State of Zacatecas reaffirms its commitment to the preservation of historical and cultural heritage, as a fundamental basis for social well-being, collective identity, and the sustainable development of the state.
In this regard, the agency works in coordination with state, municipal, and federal institutions to ensure the proper conservation of historic centers, heritage buildings, and urban environments with cultural value. To this end, it will carry out various strategic heritage protection actions.
These include corrective measures in the historic centers of historic districts and monument zones, such as the regulation and correction of awnings, advertisements, and signs, as well as the removal of graffiti and vandalism from historic buildings, with the aim of preserving the urban landscape and architectural values. Similarly, free proposals, technical advice, and follow-up will be provided for remodeling, expansion, and restoration work on public and private properties, ensuring responsible interventions in accordance with heritage regulations.
The State Board for the Protection and Conservation of Monuments and Historic Sites will also conduct training sessions and courses on the protection and conservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, aimed at citizens, professionals, property owners, and public servants, strengthening a culture of care and shared responsibility.
During 2026, the Guardians of Cultural Heritage program will continue, a playful program for children that promotes knowledge, respect, and defense of heritage from an educational and participatory perspective.
These actions strengthen the conservation of cultural heritage as a cross-cutting axis of progress, social cohesion, and sustainable development, consolidating Zacatecas as a state that protects its history while building its future.
