Welfare Housing in Hidalgo: Alleged lack of information creates uncertainty for beneficiary

Fidela Sevilla García, 72, was selected as one of the beneficiaries of the Welfare Housing program in Hidalgo. However, the alleged lack of information regarding the continuation of the process has generated uncertainty for her and her daughter, María Guadalupe.

Guadalupe also registered but was not selected in the lottery, so she is continuing her mother’s application process. However, she fears losing the 4,500 pesos payment required to fulfill the requirements. This concern arises because, in her case, the home inspection required as part of the federal procedure prior to the lottery to select beneficiaries was not carried out.

“I called Conavi (National Housing Commission), and they told me I need to have that money to obtain two requirements: one is the Certificate of No Property Ownership. My mother and I are afraid to pay because they didn’t do the visit. We don’t want to lose the money; we need it,” she stated.

Originally from Huehuetla, Lupita explained in an interview with El Sol de Hidalgo that they currently live in the San Fernando housing development in Mineral de la Reforma, paying a rent of two thousand pesos. The move was due to Fidela Sevilla’s health.

“To be honest, at first I was very excited to see my mother’s name on the list of beneficiaries, it was before Christmas, but then we were disappointed because the home visit never happened. We haven’t received any further information to continue the process,” she said.

Another pending issue, she added, is the allocation of the houses, since the location of the house they will be assigned is still unknown. There are currently two housing complexes in Hidalgo with six thousand homes located in San Agustín Tlaxiaca: one near the Hidalgo Council of Science, Technology and Innovation (Citnova), and the other near the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN).

However, Lupita assured that she will continue with the process despite her doubts, as she stated that the simple idea of paying a little over two thousand pesos a month to obtain her own house instead of renting, “sounds very good.”
