Plan de Guadalupe International Airport will expand its air connectivity options in the coming months with the launch of daily flights between Saltillo and Guadalajara starting in June, as well as the start of operations on the Saltillo-Cancun route during the Easter holiday period, with a phased schedule beginning in April, reported Óscar Pérez Benavides, head of State Airport Services.

He explained that the route operated by Volaris between Saltillo and Guadalajara will begin on June 1st, with daily flights from Monday to Sunday and a capacity of 186 passengers, although in some cases it may operate with aircraft with up to 240 seats.

“Tickets are already on sale on the airline’s website. This is a permanent, daily flight that will strengthen the state’s connectivity,” he noted.

According to the schedule published by the airline, the Guadalajara–Saltillo flight will depart at 6:55 p.m., arriving at 8:22 p.m., while the Saltillo–Guadalajara leg will depart at 8:55 p.m., arriving at 10:25 p.m. The approximate flight duration is one and a half hours, with fares varying depending on the date and demand.

Regarding the flight to Cancún, operated by Viva Aerobus, the official explained that the intention is to have two weekly flights, although he specified that their implementation will be phased in.

“The flight to Cancún will begin during the Easter holiday period and will be scheduled gradually, according to the season and demand,” he explained.

On the airline’s platform, the availability calendar shows scheduled dates starting in April, with operations concentrated during holiday periods and weekends, as well as specific departures in subsequent months, reflecting a date-based schedule in this first phase of the route.

Regarding the airport’s overall performance, Pérez Benavides indicated that the Saltillo–Mexico City route currently registers an average of between 330 and 340 passengers daily, reflecting a steady flow since the resumption of commercial operations.

For her part, the Secretary of Citizen Engagement, Social Innovation Projects, and Public Productive Investment, María Bárbara Cepeda Boehringer, highlighted that 24,000 passengers have traveled through the airport since its reopening.

“Today we have three active routes and more about to begin. In less than a year, we have registered 24,000 passengers, whereas before we didn’t even reach that number in two years,” she noted. He added that the daily flow of passengers has allowed the airport to attract travelers not only from different regions of Coahuila, but also from neighboring states.

Finally, Pérez Benavides stated that the airport is prepared to handle the anticipated increase in operations in the coming months, including its role as an alternate airport during the World Cup. He also noted that efforts are ongoing to expand air connectivity in accordance with demand and the corresponding authorization processes.
