Local bakeries, baker’s and cafeterias come together in a festival that seeks to create community, diversify the gastronomic offer and strengthen the economy of San Miguel this February 14 and 15
San Miguel de Allende, Gto.- Internationally recognized as one of the most romantic destinations in Mexico, San Miguel de Allende adds a new reason to fall in love this February.
Within the framework of the Day of Love and Friendship, Dulce San Miguel is born, a gastronomic festival that puts local bakeries, bakeries and cafeterias at the center.
The event will take place on February 14 and 15, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., in a little-explored but emblematic setting: the Terrazas del Chorro, an open-air space that seeks to consolidate itself as a meeting point for locals and visitors.
During an interview, Tania Castillo, director of Tourism of San Miguel de Allende, explained that this festival arises from direct dialogue with entrepreneurs in the sweet sector.
“Many times we are very focused on the gastronomy of large restaurants or on savory food, and we leave out cafeterias, pastry shops, and bakeries, which are usually smaller businesses but with a lot of talent,” he said.
The initiative is promoted by the Directorate of Tourism and Economic Development, with a clear objective: to support entrepreneurs, small businesses, and also established establishments, generating not only sales, but also positioning and brand recognition.
The festival will have 20 local exhibitors, from small family projects to bakeries with more experience, all with affordable prices, so that the public can try different proposals. The dynamic is reminiscent of events such as San Miguel and its Flavors: taste, share, and stay.
“We don’t want people to just come, buy a dessert, and leave. The idea is that they spend time here, that they sit down, listen to live music, spend time with their partner, friends, or family. It is about building community,” said Castillo.
In addition to the gastronomic offer, there will be workshops such as cookie decorating, floral activities, live music, and spaces to enjoy the day without access cost, making it an open and accessible option for all.
The festival joins a key weekend for the city. As February 14 falls on a weekend, an important economic spillover is expected that will benefit not only the participants of the event, but also restaurants, bars, hotels, artisans, and tourism service providers.
San Miguel de Allende, famous for being a destination for weddings and proposals, thus expands its romantic offer with a public and outdoor experience, ideal for those looking to celebrate without resorting to private dinners or high costs.
Open call to participate
Businesses interested in being part of this first edition can still do so.
Registration is open on February 4 and 5, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Tourist Offices, located in front of the Main Garden.
“Supporting these businesses is not only helping them to sell, but also for people to know their brand and recommend their work. That generates stability and strengthens the local economy,” concluded the director of Tourism.
This February 14 and 15, San Miguel invites you to celebrate love, friendship, and local talent with chocolate flavor, freshly baked bread, and coffee.
