National: Traffic officer caught receiving a bribe in Tulum, Quintana Roo

A traffic officer in Tulum, Quintana Roo, was allegedly caught accepting a bribe from a motorist on the municipal highway. As a result, the city’s Secretariat of Public Security and Citizen Protection announced that proceedings have begun to determine responsibility.

The driver shared a video on social media showing him giving money to the officer, identified as Alberto Froylan. He also took the opportunity to tell the officer what he thought about the situation. The officer can be heard replying that he was assisted by “Guillen.”

The two ended the conversation with a handshake and continued with their duties.

It has been reported that the officer involved was dismissed from the force, but authorities have not confirmed this.
