The Olmeca Interinstitutional Tactical Reaction Force (FIRT) issued an alert in Tabasco to warn citizens and business owners about phone calls used for extortion.
According to information released by authorities, criminals are making calls and sending threatening messages, impersonating members of criminal groups to demand money. Reports indicate that these communications originate primarily from the prisons in Nezahualcóyotl, State of Mexico, and Santa Martha Acatitla, Mexico City.

Authorities urged the public not to answer calls from unknown numbers, to hang up immediately, block them, and not to provide personal information or make any deposits. They also reminded the public that reports can be made anonymously by calling 089 or by contacting the State Attorney General’s Office.
