The state government announced initiatives that will boost tourism, culture, and the economy, including an event promoting mezcal, considered Puebla’s “liquid gold.”

Puebla is making its mark in the skies with the historic announcement of 12 new domestic and international air routes. This will allow for significant tourism development both nationally and internationally, reported Víctor Gabriel Chedraui, Secretary of Economic Development and Labor, at a press conference held at the state’s representative offices in Mexico City.

The nine new domestic flights will serve Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, San Luis Potosí, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Villahermosa, Huatulco, Puerto Vallarta, San José del Cabo, and Zihuatanejo. The international routes will serve the United States, specifically the cities of New Jersey, Houston, and Los Angeles.

“Currently, there are flights to Guadalajara, Monterrey, Tijuana, Mérida, and Cancún. Now, these new domestic and international flights are being added, which will boost the state’s economy and development,” the official said.

” On the other hand, at a press conference held by the Puebla State Government in its Mexico City offices, Carlos Borboa, Director for the Americas of the Mexico Selection Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, announced that in November, Puebla will host the tenth most important wine and spirits competition in the country, called the Mexico Selection de CMB 2026.

“Puebla is in vogue, hosting wonderful events nationwide, and showcasing its tourism, gastronomy, crafts, and economic development. For us, it was quite obvious to choose the state this year. This event, taking place in November, receives nearly a thousand wine and spirit products from across Mexico each year, and is judged by approximately 40 international industry leaders from various countries,” Borboa emphasized.

He also noted that competitions open doors for Puebla producers to better position their products both nationally and internationally. At the same time, he officially presented the symbol of the new venue for the 2026 CMB Mexico Selection to Governor Alejandro Armenta.

Enrique Bernal, producer of Mezcal Antigua Destilería Los Fuertes, said that in Puebla, they have been making a great effort for seven years to produce these spirits, because participating in this type of competition creates a double commitment to bringing Puebla’s mezcals to tables both in Mexico and abroad.

He recounted that most of the producers are from the Mixteca region of Puebla, where for many years people were exported, but now it will be mezcal. He emphasized that those who used to emigrate to the United States now send dollars to invest in the “liquid gold of Puebla,” which is mezcal.

At the conclusion of the event, the Governor of Puebla highlighted important news, including the 12 new flights that will be served in Puebla, as well as the 2026 CMB Mexico Selection and the support for the state’s mezcals.
