Acapulco surpasses 95% occupancy and consolidates high tourist influx during the second day of the first long weekend of the year.

Acapulco, Guerrero, February 1, 2026 – On the second day of the first long weekend of 2026, commemorating the Anniversary of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States, tourist destinations in the state of Guerrero registered high hotel occupancy rates, reflecting the state’s tourism dynamism and the confidence of thousands of visitors.

Thanks to the tourism policy promoted by Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda, Guerrero continues to consolidate its position as one of the most attractive destinations in the country, strengthening its connectivity, promotion, and visitor services, particularly during peak periods such as long weekends.

The State Secretary of Tourism, Simón Quiñones Orozco, highlighted that these results confirm the current strength of tourism in Guerrero and the effectiveness of the strategy implemented to strengthen key destinations and regions with tourism potential.

According to figures from the State Tourism Secretariat, on Sunday, February 1st, the state average hotel occupancy reached 93.9%, positioning Guerrero among the states with the highest tourism activity nationwide during this period.

Acapulco remains the state’s main tourism engine, registering a hotel occupancy rate of 95.2%, reflecting its sustained recovery and the wide range of services, activities, and experiences it offers visitors. By area, the Golden Zone reached 96.5%, the Diamond Zone reported 93.9%, while the Historic Bay registered 90.6%, demonstrating solid and balanced occupancy throughout the port.

In Ixtapa, hotel occupancy reached 94.1%, confirming its strength as a planned beach destination, with a high preference for family tourism and a consolidated hotel offering that continues to attract domestic visitors during long weekends.

Meanwhile, Taxco de Alarcón reached an occupancy rate of 93.5%, driven by its rich cultural, architectural, and artisanal heritage, solidifying its position as one of the leading options for city breaks and weekend getaways in the state.

Finally, La Unión registered an occupancy rate of 85.9%, reflecting the sustained growth of this region as an emerging destination, with beaches and communities that continue to gain popularity among domestic tourists.

The Government of the State of Guerrero, through the Ministry of Tourism, reaffirms its commitment to continue working in coordination with the tourism sector to strengthen the industry, generate economic benefits, and consolidate Guerrero as a competitive, reliable, and attractive destination year-round.
