Long lines are reported at the vaccination center in Lerdo, Durango; most are seeking a measles booster.

Following recent reports of measles cases in Durango, hundreds of people in the La Laguna region of Durango flocked to the vaccination center set up in Victoria Park in the municipality of Lerdo to try to get vaccinated. According to medical staff, the measles vaccine has been the most in demand.

This Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., medical personnel from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), the Institute for Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE), and the state health department were on hand to administer vaccines against measles, influenza, tetanus, rubella, COVID-19, hepatitis B, and others.

Throughout the day, long lines of citizens were observed waiting to receive one of the 10,000 available vaccines.

Staff administering the vaccines confirmed that many people came to get a measles booster shot.

A few days ago, a case was confirmed in the municipality of Gómez Palacio, bringing the total to 19 so far in 2026, with 44 probable cases. These 19 cases are in addition to the 40 confirmed in 2025.
