With a vibrant display of joy and color, the Putla Carnival paraded through the Historic Center of Oaxaca City, announcing that Putla Villa de Guerrero is ready to welcome visitors from February 8th to 17th.
The parade route was enjoyed by people along the pedestrian walkway, from the Santo Domingo Church to the Zócalo (main square) of Oaxaca City.
The Undersecretary of Tourism Operations, Mariel López Villatoro, stated that, at the instruction of Governor Salomón Jara Cruz, efforts are underway to strengthen festivities such as the Putla Carnival, recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of the State, for its contribution to cultural identity and tourism development.
Representatives of the comparsas (carnival troupes) Los Copalas, Los Viejos with their colorful costumes, and the Danza del Macho (Dance of the Macho), along with the Oaxaca Tourism Secretariat (Sectur Oaxaca) and municipal authorities, extended an invitation to experience one of the state’s most representative celebrations.
