of skeletal remains of two people in the municipality of La Paz. The discovery was made during citizen search efforts; local authorities are already working on the collection of the remains to begin forensic identification protocols.

The Searches for La Paz Collective announced that the search took place over the weekend in the community of San Juan de la Costa, where a property was located with indications pointing to the presence of human remains.

During the search on Sunday, a team comprised of personnel from the State Commission for the Search of Missing Persons and relatives of missing persons located a clandestine grave and notified the State Attorney General’s Office (PGJE).

Upon arrival, the area was cordoned off to begin processing the remains, which continued until Monday, with the participation of field criminalists and the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Investigation of Missing Persons.

According to the collective’s report, the discovered grave is approximately 1.30 meters deep and contains two sets of human remains, which preliminarily appear to be male.
Members of the National Guard and the Mexican Navy secured the perimeter while technical work was carried out at the site.
Members of Búsqueda x La Paz (Search for La Paz) indicated that once the forensic analysis is complete, it will be possible to determine whether the remains belong to one or more individuals and establish characteristics that will allow for further identification.

They added that families of missing persons can request information about clothing and other evidence found through the channels established by the collective.

This discovery adds to other reports registered in this same area of the municipality of La Paz, where collectives and authorities are continuing search efforts due to the persistent number of disappearances in the state. In this search area alone, the Collective has located 85 clandestine graves with 115 skeletons in the last 5 years.
