The competition brought together more than 1,600 people in the port, including national and international cyclists and their companions.
Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- This Sunday, February 8, the 14th edition of the Gran Fondo Mazatlán was held, where around 650 national and international cyclists participated and brought together more than one thousand 600 people, which projects an estimated economic spill of more than 14 million pesos.
As part of the celebration of the month of the Mexican Army and Air Force, the event was a cycling route or marathon, where participants were individually timed with a chip at the beginning and end of the route.
Cyclists from Zacatecas, Jalisco, San Luis Potosí, Coahuila, Baja California, Chihuahua, CDMX, Nayarit, Durango, Sinaloa, the United States, and Canada participated in the marathon.
Flag! The marathon starts
José Alfonso Reséndiz Memije, director of the Meetings Industry of Sectur, was in charge of giving the starting flag on behalf of the Secretary of Tourism of Sinaloa, Mireya Sosa Osuna.
The route began at the Lighthouse and continued to the points: Cerritos, El Habal, La Noria, San Marcos, the Picachos Dam, El Recodo, Cofradía, Escamillas, and El Vainillo. At the end, the participants finished the tour on Isla de la Piedra.
After completing the 75 and 140-kilometer routes, the cyclists gathered to be part of the awards ceremony in which a purse of 30 thousand pesos was distributed among the best exponents on two wheels, as well as a family party as a closing.
Also present at the start were Mónica Coppel, organizer of the event, and Ezequiel Mora, director of the Municipal Sports Institute of Mazatlán.
