The fourth miner found in the clandestine grave in El Verde, in the municipality of Concordia, has been identified. He is Jesús Antonio de la O Valdez, an Ecology Engineer originally from the state of Chihuahua. With this identification, the number of miners identified among the bodies and human remains exhumed at the site rises to four.

The College of Ecology Engineers of the State of Chihuahua expressed its condolences to the family and loved ones of De la O Valdez, who was one of the 10 workers from the Vizsla Silver Corp. mining company who were kidnapped by an armed group in the municipality of Concordia.

The discovery of the professional’s body was also reported by the news outlet Tribuna de Chihuahua.

To date, four miners have been identified. In addition to Jesús Antonio de la O Valdez, the identities of industrial engineers José Ángel Hernández Vélez and Ignacio Aurelio Salazar Flores, both from the state of Zacatecas, and engineer José Manuel Castañeda Hernández, from the state of Guerrero, have been confirmed.

Given the secrecy of federal authorities, the identification of the bodies has been made public primarily by the victims’ families to media outlets in Zacatecas and Chihuahua, as well as by companies, educational institutions, and professional associations in both states.

This Monday, the search continues at the clandestine grave located approximately 14 kilometers north of the municipal seat of Concordia, under heavy guard by members of the Mexican Army and the National Guard.

Although unofficial reports suggest that the 10 miners have already been located and identified, no authority has confirmed this information, including the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, or the Governor of the state, Rubén Rocha Moya.

On February 9, a Texan aircraft was also reported flying over communities near El Verde.
