Following a search of the home of a former state police officer identified as Alejandro ‘N’, a number of human remains were found; some of them, it is now known, belonged to María Fernanda Guerrero Barajas, a young woman who disappeared on March 3, 2024, along with her friend Diana Estrella.
According to unofficial reports, María Fernanda’s remains were found on Friday, February 6, buried inside the former police officer’s house in the Lomas de Coyopotrero neighborhood. This same individual was arrested by authorities in November 2025, when he was identified as the main suspect in the crime of forced disappearance.
According to the Puebla Prosecutor’s Office, 6,398 vehicle thefts were recorded between January and November 2025. This operation was carried out under a search warrant and conducted in complete secrecy; therefore, although news of the operation circulated, there was no official information regarding the incident.
However, this Monday, February 9, the Missing Persons Search Commission confirmed, through an update to the missing persons bulletin for María Fernanda, that she was now listed as “located,” without providing further details.
It is worth mentioning that internal sources have indicated that human remains still need to be analyzed through DNA testing, so the possibility of finding fragments belonging to 24-year-old Diana Estrella, who accompanied María Fernanda to her alleged attacker’s birthday party on the date they both disappeared, has not been ruled out.
Therefore, it is expected that the criminal proceedings against the former member of the State Public Security Secretariat (SSP) will be modified, and he will now be tried as a possible femicide perpetrator.
