As the 2026 carnival season draws nearer, more municipalities in Puebla are preparing to participate in this traditional celebration, this time with Tecali de Herrera and its auxiliary town of Concepción Cuautla.

N+ Puebla will give you all the details about this celebration in this region known for its mezcal and handicrafts: the dates and locations.

The 2026 Tecali de Herrera Carnival will take place from Saturday, February 14th to Tuesday, February 17th, four days in which the streets of both the municipal seat and the auxiliary town of Concepción Cuautla will be filled with music, dance, and tradition.

It’s worth noting that four groups of traditional dancers (huehues) are participating throughout the municipality: two called “Los Perros” (The Dogs), one called “Los Chicones” (The Little Ones), and one called “Los Bombos” (The Drummers). These groups will compete all weekend long, just as they have done for over 100 years.

Municipal authorities expect an economic impact of seven million pesos, as visitors will be able to purchase traditional marble and onyx crafts, sample the characteristic mezcal, and stay in one of the three hotels located in the area.

The 2026 San Francisco Ocotlán Carnival in Coronango, Puebla, will begin this Friday, February 13th, at 10:00 a.m. with a presentation by the traditional dancers from the community’s three neighborhoods.

The main day of this celebration in the town will be Tuesday, February 17th, when, starting at 3:00 PM, all the dance troupes will perform in their respective neighborhoods, followed by their guest artists:

In the Upper Neighborhood, Banda Recoditos will perform; in the Central Neighborhood, Grupo Quintana will give their show; and in the Lower Neighborhood, Banda Tierra Sagrada will perform.
