The Mazatlan International Carnival is considered one of the most representative celebrations in Mexico
With an attendance of more than 25 thousand people at the Teodoro Mariscal Stadium, the Mazatlan International Carnival 2026 began under the slogan “Arriba la Tambora“.
During the opening ceremony, Javier I was crowned King of Joy, in a ceremony led by municipal and state authorities. The Queen of Carnival, Anahí I, handed over the royal attributes to the new sovereign, who was accompanied by members of the royal court. The celebration concluded with a fireworks display.
The event was attended by the municipal president of Mazatlan, Estrella Palacios Domínguez, and the president of the DIF Sinaloa System, Eneyda Rocha Ruiz. The authorities formally kicked off the activities of the carnival, which will take place from February 12 to 17 and includes parades, artistic presentations, and cultural events.
As part of the inauguration, the Institute of Culture, Tourism and Art of Mazatlan paid tribute to Daniel Osuna for his 25 years of career as King of Joy. Likewise, the Folkloric Ballet of the institute presented a show made up of various choreographic tableaux, under the general coordination of Zoila Fernández.
The Mazatlan International Carnival is considered one of the most representative celebrations in the country and every year it brings together thousands of national and foreign visitors.
