This Thursday, the new anthem of San Luis Potosí was presented, in a ceremony that brought together state authorities, cultural representatives, and citizens who came to listen – for the first time – to the composition performed by the Potosí group Los Acosta, whose lyrics evoke identity, pride, and belonging.
The governor, Ricardo Gallardo Cardona, led the event at the Carlos Amador Theater in Tangamanga I Park, where he stressed that the musical piece strengthens the sense of unity among the people of Potosí, by taking up symbols, traditions, and regions that are part of the living history of the state.

The song opens with verses that underline the roots and the bond with the land of Potosí: “Long live San Luis, your light lives in me, and although I am far away, brother, I live happily here; long live San Luis, divine Xantolo, the Procession of Silence, Potosí pride.” The composition mentions emblematic celebrations and cultural expressions that identify the state inside and outside the country.
The lyrics also travel through the territory of Potosí by referring to its native peoples and their different geographical areas: “San Luis is my home, my life and my feelings, land of my brothers Nahuas, Tének and Pames; here from Real de Catorce to the capital, the magical Huasteca, the immortal Altiplano“, with which the anthem integrates in the same message the Central zone, the Huasteca, the Altiplano and the Middle region, as part of a shared identity.
The closing invites unity: “And now sing with me, brother Potosí, may this hymn be heard as a divine song, may this song unite us in the same destiny“, a phrase that marked the moment when the audience accompanied the performance in the venue.
Finally, Gallardo Cardona stressed that the new musical piece seeks to become a symbol of contemporary identity for the state and project, through music, the pride and cultural richness of San Luis Potosí, while endorsing the promotion of artistic expressions that strengthen social cohesion.
During the ceremony, the governor was accompanied by the Secretary General of Government, J. Guadalupe Torres Sánchez; the Secretary of Tourism, Yolanda Cepeda Echavarría; the head of Economic Development, Jesús Salvador González Martínez; the Secretary of Culture, Mario García Valdez; the federal deputy Juan Carlos Valladares Eichelmann, as well as citizens who attended the presentation.
