Abusing his power, a former governor of Nayarit awarded himself 3,000 transportation permits during his term, depriving those who truly deserved them of the opportunity.
This was stated by the current governor, Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero, who, although he did not name names, but it is speculated that it could be Roberto Sandoval, condemned the act, given that the permits were granted arbitrarily and outside the bounds of the law.
The governor clarified that the permits are not currently being used, as they fear potential legal action. Thanks to this, they have been able to issue 500 permits during his administration to drivers who have been behind the wheel for years and deserve to own their livelihoods.
In addition to issuing permits, he stated that the beneficiaries also receive a loan of 70,000 pesos, and in this latest round, he ordered that the amount be increased to 100,000 pesos. The funds are intended to provide them with a down payment for purchasing a vehicle to work with.
Similarly, he said they have been working with communities that lack transportation services, granting permits to the local commissioner, as well as providing resources, to implement rural transportation, which represents a significant achievement.
His administration affirmed that it will continue to thoroughly review concessions granted in previous administrations to ensure they were awarded legally and transparently, warning that no action that jeopardizes the assets of the operators will be permitted.
The goal is to improve public transportation services, provide legal certainty to concession holders, and ensure that the benefits truly reach those who have dedicated years of effort behind the wheel.
