With the goal of strengthening coffee production in the municipality of Minatitlán and replicating some of the successful strategies implemented in the northern part of the state, the Government of the State of Colima, led by Governor Indira Vizcaíno Silva, delivered more than 5,000 coffee plants to women and men in Minatitlán through the Undersecretariat of Rural Development (Subseder).
During the distribution of the Oro Azteca variety, harvested from the State Government’s nursery, the head of Subseder, Elías Antonio Lozano Ochoa, stated that the producers in Minatitlán will receive technical assistance and support to help them achieve their objectives. He also noted that coffee producer groups have been formed in the northern part of the state, and with technical assistance and financing, they have made considerable progress.
Also present at the distribution were María Esmeralda López Mendoza, the state representative of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Government of Mexico; The municipal president of Minatitlán, Cicerón Alejandro Mancilla González; the representative of Trusts Established in Relation to Agriculture (FIRA), Rodrigo Javier Córdova Hernández, and representatives of the Savings Bank ‘La Providencia’.
