However, despite the fact that nearly 600 of these vehicles have been officially seized in the state—mostly abandoned after pitched battles between cartel members—authorities remain unaware of the origin of these “monsters.”
The Mexican Army (Sedena) reported that, from January 2023 to June 2025, it seized 597 of these vehicles nationwide, 304 of which were confiscated in Tamaulipas, more than in any other state.
Meanwhile, the Tamaulipas Attorney General’s Office reported the seizure and destruction of approximately 257 of these vehicles between January 2019 and July 2022.
In contrast to their massive production, there is only one reported seizure: a drug workshop, located on October 21, 2023, where a manufacturing center for these “monsters” was discovered on a rural road in the municipality of Reynosa.
No arrests were made during the raid, and the clandestine workshop was reported to be unoccupied.
