More than 24 hours after the bus was found on the Ciudad Valles–El Mante stretch of highway, uncertainty persists. The bus was located with belongings inside, but with no obvious signs of a collision.
The San Luis Potosí State Attorney General’s Office reported that it has opened an investigation into the disappearance and is not ruling out any leads. “We are analyzing evidence and video surveillance footage; we cannot speculate at this time,” stated the regional prosecutor, José Luis Ruiz Contreras.
Members of the National Guard and state police have deployed checkpoints and patrols along dirt roads and rural routes. “The priority is to find the missing people alive,” said a federal official on condition of anonymity.
While authorities are urging caution, family members are demanding answers. “We haven’t heard anything since early this morning; we ask that this case not be minimized,” said María Hernández, who maintains that a relative was traveling on the bus.
The area, considered strategic due to its interstate connection, remains under surveillance. Today, the investigations and searches continue in a case that has the Huasteca region of San Luis Potosí on edge and has reignited concerns about safety on federal highways.
