The Nissan Uruapan, Michoacán, workers who left for Querétaro on Friday for training and whose families reported them missing after losing contact with them, have been located in Salamanca.
According to reports circulating in various online media outlets, the workers left Nissan Uruapan in a company van to travel to the main facilities for training when they disappeared en route.
According to available information, the Nissan workers were intercepted by armed men between Yuriria and Uriagato, where they were robbed and left on the highway. With the help of bystanders, they managed to reach downtown Salamanca, where they sought assistance from the municipal police.
The municipal government informed the newspaper Correo that personnel from the Public Security Directorate confirmed the safe return of six employees from the Nissan Uruapan dealership, who had been reported missing after communication was lost with them while they were traveling to training.
The alleged victims were traveling in a company van to the headquarters in Querétaro. The last recorded contact was in the municipality of Salamanca, Guanajuato, after which no further information about their location was available.
Following the report, the corresponding protocols were activated, and coordinated search efforts were deployed, involving the Municipal Public Security Directorate, in collaboration with state authorities and the National Guard.
Hours later, the six individuals were found alive and are now safe.
No further information was released to avoid hindering the ongoing investigation. The Attorney General’s Office will be able to provide more details.
The digital media outlet Revolución Social identified the workers as Jorge Iván, Jorge Alejandro, Iván Benitez, Alejandra Bernal, Blanca Alvez and Victor Aguilar, all employees of the Nissan Uruapan agency, who had left Uruapan on Friday heading to Querétaro and who fortunately were already back with their families today.
