The head of the Puebla Public Security Secretariat (SSP), Francisco Sánchez González, confirmed this Saturday that the shootout near the bar “Sala de Despecho” in the Angelópolis area was a planned attack, meticulously planned for a month by the alleged assailants.

“It was planned, it was conceived. These people rented an apartment very close to the location. They were practicing or acting out the attack in great detail,” the official told the media, outlining the initial lines of investigation.

Sánchez González explained that, according to the first interviews with those arrested, “we were able to determine where they stayed, where they left the vehicles and motorcycles, how they planned everything, carried out the attack, left the motorcycles, fled through the ravine, and hid.”

“That’s what we have right now. The important thing is to determine the mastermind and the motives. It’s something that is very difficult to prevent because it was very detailed and well-prepared,” the head of the SSP emphasized.

“It was planned, it was conceived. These people rented an apartment very close to the location. They were practicing or acting in great detail,” he added. According to authorities, the perpetrators had been living in a house near the bar for over a month before carrying out the attack, which allowed investigators to gather evidence that the crime was premeditated.

The violent incident took place in the early hours of Saturday, February 14, outside the bar “Sala de Despecho,” located on Osa Mayor Boulevard in the Angelópolis area, one of the busiest neighborhoods in Puebla City.

Around 2:30 a.m., a group of armed men on motorcycles opened fire on a group of people who were about to get into a Mercedes Benz SUV parked in front of the establishment.

The attack left three people dead—two men and a woman—who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and four others injured who were taken to nearby hospitals.

Following the attack, state and municipal authorities launched an operation that resulted in the arrest of four suspected perpetrators and the seizure of two motorcycles connected to the incident.

The Puebla State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has initiated the corresponding investigations to determine the motive for the crime, including interviews, forensic examinations, and ballistic evidence analysis, while the State Police (SSP) continues to gather evidence to clarify whether there were additional motives or third-party involvement in the attack.
