The Oxchuc-Ocosingo highway was the scene of a confrontation between armed civilians and police, leaving three wounded.
On the morning of Friday, February 20, a confrontation occurred in Ocosingo, Chiapas.
The incident took place on the Oxchuc-Ocosingo highway, near the community of Río Florido.
Governor Eduardo Ramírez reported that a group of people had blocked the highway in order to extort money from drivers.
“We implemented an operation to clear the roads,” the governor stated.
The police intervention resulted in an armed confrontation in which three officers were wounded.
Following the incident, the Chiapas State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) announced the opening of an investigation into the crimes of:

extortion
assault
