The Mexican Navy (SEMAR) reported a successful operation against organized crime in Baja California Sur, in which naval personnel seized a significant quantity of weapons, tactical equipment, and narcotics as part of the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and crime in the state.
According to the official statement, the operations were carried out within the framework of the National Security Strategy, with surveillance and territorial control functions in strategic areas of the region. The seizure included firearms, tactical equipment, suspected illicit substances, and a vehicle linked to criminal activities.
The seized narcotics represent more than 79 million doses, a significant blow to the finances of criminal groups operating along the Mexican Pacific route. These seizures are achieved through naval intelligence and land and sea patrols, reinforcing the State’s presence at vulnerable drug transit points.
The Mexican Navy (SEMAR) reported that the seized items were turned over to the appropriate authorities for legal proceedings, thus contributing to the investigation and prosecution of the crime. The mobilization of Mexican Navy personnel and equipment in this operation underscores the institution’s commitment to security and the maintenance of the rule of law in the country.
This seizure adds to other recent actions by federal forces against drug trafficking in Mexican Pacific waters and along the coast, where vessels carrying illicit cargo have also been intercepted and arrests have been made in coordination with other security agencies.
