Carín León surprises at a tasting at Taquería “El Coyote”: this is what the new restaurant that promises to revolutionize tacos in Hermosillo will be like.

Sonoran singer Carín León surprised his fans by appearing at the free tasting event for the new Taqueria “El Coyote,” a culinary project that will officially open its doors on March 24 in Hermosillo, Sonora.

The restaurant is the brainchild of José Figueroa of JAF Carnicerías, Sebastián Chacón, and Carín León himself, who aim to offer a concept that, as they have revealed, combines the best of traditional Sonoran cuisine with a modern take on the classic northern-style taco.

The grand opening will take place in Plaza 662, located at the corner of Blvd. Rodríguez and Garmendia, one of the busiest spots in the Sonoran capital.

On February 23, prior to the official opening, the partners organized a free tasting in downtown Hermosillo, where dozens of people came to sample a preview of the menu.

In a video shared on the taqueria’s official Instagram account, Carín León explained that what was presented was just a small sample of what the place will offer:

“We’re bringing a tasting of what will be just 1% of the Coyote and this whole concept we’re bringing to redefine the taco (…) you’re going to be blown away.”

The tasting also served as a symbolic unveiling of the new grill that will be used at the establishment, which is still under construction. According to what was shown on social media, the team fired up the grill as part of the event and cooked the first cuts of meat that will be part of the official menu.

One of the points that attracted the most attention was the description of the gastronomic concept. The promoters have spoken of a “redefinition of the taco,” focusing on the quality of the meat, the traditional flour tortilla, and combinations representative of northern Mexico.

During the event, José Figueroa, known as JAF, presented one of the signature tacos that will be available:

“This is the Guerrero, a chuck roast, flour tortilla, with or without beans. The chuck roast is the best, it’s the classic taco that will always be on the menu.”

The chuck roast is one of the most commonly used cuts of beef in Sonoran cuisine for carne asada tacos, characterized by its tenderness and intense flavor when cooked over charcoal. According to the organizers, this will be one of the star items on the permanent menu.

The tasting not only brought together fans and curious onlookers, but also featured content creators and local entertainment figures. Among those in attendance were the Sonoran singer “El Kakalo,” Cataveneno (Cataclika), El Muchacho de los Tacos, the singer Julio Ávila, Antojadillos, and Meylin Zúñiga, Carín León’s partner.
