Pepe Aguilar spoke for the first time about the shootout that occurred near his property in Zacatecas, in the El Soyate area.
“These events are a reminder that no one is immune to the situation in the country,” he said.
The singer-songwriter clarified that he was not in El Soyate during the operation, but acknowledged that the incident reflects the complex situation of violence facing Mexico.
Aguilar expressed his hope that Mexico will regain peace and called for decisive action from the authorities to protect the population.
The events took place on Thursday, February 12, 2026, when security forces arrested “El Braca,” a plaza boss for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.
After information about the shootout began circulating in national media, the Zacatecas government confirmed the presence of Pepe Aguilar’s family members in El Soyate during the operation.
It was learned that the singer was in contact with Governor David Monreal to stay informed about the situation.
It was later confirmed that Ángela Aguilar and Christian Nodal were at the ranch when the incident occurred.
The couple was escorted by members of the SSPC (Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection), the Ministry of Defense, the National Guard, and state public security forces to their private plane at the Zacatecas airport on Thursday night.
